The young people have really enjoyed looking for facts to write in their passports. Today they had to work to earn their facts!
There were three things today that made me so impressed with this group of kids who regularly come now. The first was that usually if we have something to explain we use Ivica to translate so they know exactly what to do. Well today one young lad decided he wanted to be my interpreter and he did really well, everybody understood their challenge through his translation. They had to use the 'jigsaw' pieces they were given to make up a flag of a country of the world and then if they didn't know which country it was from they searched the internet to find out. They worked in pairs and then as a team, it was so good to see these young people of different ethnic groups really bonding, helping each other and having fun. God is so good.
The second thing was that we would like the young people to take ownership of the Centar allowing it to be their third place (home, school, Centar). I think they showed today that this is beginning to happen or has happened for some of them. They all came up to help Becca with the mosaic even if it was for 1 or 2 pieces.
The third good impression was when the kids were asking Eleanor if they could start a game, she told them they could, so they looked at her to start it but she stood back, then eventually they started it themselves, learning that they can also initiate the playing of games themselves.
It's nearly the end of the first week and what a week it is. It has just flown by............
