This week we're 'visiting' Haiti. Some of the young people left to go to Novi Most Camp on Tuesday morning with Eleanor and Ivica but Mick, Becca and I stayed in Centar. We had a few extra people who also came last year come along. It was a particularly noisy session on Tuesday. We put up a flag of Haiti for them to guess where we were 'going'. Once they had found out they had to show us where it was in the world. They all got it right so they are definitely working well as a team and helping each other out.
Today we showed the group short videos of how roads crack or how buildings shake when there is an earthquake. We then showed them how to make a seismometer from a cardboard box, plastic cup, a few stones and string. We have felt a few shudders from earthquakes living here. Most of the time they don't last long and feel like a large lorry going past, in fact once that's what it was!! The largest we have felt has been at night and I'm guessing it lasted 3 minutes and was enough to wake us. The epicentre was at Blagai just outside Mostar.
One evening we had a table football 'World Cup' with Uruguay, Spain, Germany and Holland. It was good fun. I hope the real teams play as well!!
